HEARTBEAT

Kaiyuree Moodley is warmly welcomed to the Club at Steyn City by Steven Louw, CEO of Steyn City Properties

Celebrating the people around us!

Women’s Month is a time to honour the women who uplift, inspire, and brighten our days.

Celebrating Women in Sport

On the topic of inspirational women: an extremely warm welcome to our newest Club at Steyn City ambassador, Kaiyuree Moodley. This dynamo has been playing golf since she was just four years old; now 24, she has left an incredible mark on the golf scene in her first year as a pro. Growing up in Lonehill, Kai honed her talent on the US collegiate circuit, attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With a list of achievements including representing South Africa at the Youth Olympic Games in 2018 and a tied first finish at the Annika Invitational in the United States in 2019, along with a strong showing at this year’s Sunshine Ladies Tour, finishing 6th on the Investec Order of Merit and the 2025 R&A Rookie of the Year, it’s clear that Kai is set for greatness. (We also can’t help but notice the synergies between our two brands: just as Steyn City is focused on hosting one of the world’s top golf tournaments, Kai is aiming to become one of the world’s best female golfers).

We’re confident that Kai’s passion and enthusiasm for the game will help inspire and grow our community of female golfers.

Let’s hear it for our new Club General Manager, Pierre van Vuuren

We extend a warm welcome to Pierre as he takes on this pivotal leadership role at an exciting time for our Club.

Pierre, who officially takes up his appointment on 1 September, has a wealth of experience, having spent time at a prestigious club in the United States, followed by key roles at Serengeti, De Zalze and, most recently, San Lameer.

A PGA professional with a true passion for the game, both on and off the course, Pierre still plays competitively in PGA Pro-Am events whenever time allows.

We’re also delighted to welcome Pierre’s wife, Xenia, and their two young children, Joshua (6) and Lexi (4) to the Steyn City community. The family will soon be moving into the estate, and we’re confident they’ll feel right at home. Xenia is a talented baker who runs her own baking business and if you ever want to win Pierre over, just start chatting about soccer… he’s a loyal Manchester United supporter!

Cycling news

From golf to mountain biking, fans will be disappointed to learn that the Virgin Active 947 MTB and Kiddies Races, which are held annually at Steyn City, will not take place this year. This is due to a scheduling conflict with the G20 Summit in November.

That said, there has been no lack of cycling action at the estate. In June, we hosted the second leg of the Gauteng Primary Schools MTB Series. It was wonderful to witness the enthusiasm and skill shown by the next generation riders, here’s to many happy years in the saddle!

Looking ahead, we’re excited to be hosting the fourth leg of the Gauteng High Schools MTB Series on Saturday, 30 August, right here on the estate. With a large number of participating schools expected, it promises to be another fantastic event celebrating young cycling talent.
